A Pleasant Surprise
In the month of April, it was a pleasant surprise for us when we heard a phone call from Abhishek, a brother from Bihar state who became Christian from a Hindu background through our ministry.
We have spent several years in Bihar state doing God's work. While we were there we conducted Bible study, prayer and counselling for youths in our home. There were eight youths from Hindu homes were regularly attending this programme in our home.
All those young men were university graduates and they all received Jesus in their hearts through our ministry. After we left Bihar (five years ago), they all got different jobs and some got married.
One among them was Abhishek. He said that he is married to a missionary girl, heading a ministry in Bihar and a few missionaries are working under his leadership. And he also said that another young man who used to be part of the Bible study in our home whose name is Rajan is studying in a Bible college in Calcutta. We believe that the other six brothers are also doing well in the Lord somewhere in our country.
After we left Bihar we did not have any information about any of those brothers.
Recently Abhishek met a friend of ours and asked about us and got our phone number from him. And he talked with us over phone to say this good news to us. Praise God!
It reminded us what apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain." God is faithful and our labour in the Lord is not in vain.
Story of a Family
In the month of May a family came to our home. They have an 11 year old son. They were at the verge of divorce. The husband is from Hindu background and the wife is from Christian (Catholic) background. There were problems going on in this family for awhile. They shared some of their problems with us.
We prayed with them and started talking to with both of them. We spent about three hours with them talking, counselling and encouraging them with the help of Holy Spirit. Finally we blessed and sent them to their home. From the following Sunday onwards the whole family - husband, wife and their son are regularly coming to the church and participating every programme in the church. Now they are growing in the Lord.
A Family Needs Prayer
Four years ago here in Ranchi city a Hindu girl named Priya got married to another Hindu man named Rohit who is from a different city called Patna. They have a three year old son. They were living in Priya’s home with her parents and siblings. Two years ago Priya, her parents and siblings became born again Christians except Priya’s husband Rohit. When her husband’s parents heard this news they did not like it and got angry. They asked Rohit to come to Patna. One day without Priya’s knowledge Rohit left Ranchi and gone to Patna. Since that time this family was going through a very difficult situation. Many times Priya tried to convince her husband but he is not willing to accept Christianity and not willing to leave his parents. In our country there are many such cases that parents exercise so much power on their children even though the children are adults or even if they are married too.
In the month of June one day a believer sister brought Priya to our home and shared these things with us for prayer. It was long a story so we had to spend several hours with them. For almost two years Priya is waiting for her husband to come to Ranchi and take her and the child to her husband’s home in Patna. We counselled Priya and prayed for her. We promised her that will be continuously praying for her till we see a break through. She was happy left.
We were praying for her, her husband and their little son continuously. She prayed, her parents prayed, her siblings prayed. We all were praying.
A couple of weeks later, Priya talked with us from her husband’s home in Patna over telephone saying that her husband Rohit came to Ranchi and brought her to Patna. PRAISE GOD!!! We serve a living and prayer answering God.
Again she needs our continuous prayer because there she is not allowed to contact with any Christians. She can pray and read her Bible in her bed room. Her husband is OK with that. But she is not allowed to go to any church or to have any fellowship with believers.
We need to see that her husband Rohit should become a born again Christian and stand firm for Jesus Christ in the midst of any test. Thus this family will be completely delivered. Appreciate your prayers for this family.
We have adopted a slum and doing ministry there.
A slum is a place where lot of poor and illiterate people live. Their living condition is very very low and very sad. People who live there do not know anything about the living God. We go there on a regular basis, teach (give education and tell Bible stories) their children, give snacks so that they get something from us to eat.
We minister to the men and women there also. We want to see this community worship the living God. Ultimately we want to see them in the Kingdom of God.
Appreciate your continued prayers for us and our ministry.
A Prayer Need
We have a personal prayer need:
We do not have any conveyance as our own. Earlier we had one old scooter. But two years ago it died off.
For last two years it’s been too difficult to live without our own conveyance. Every day we have to go to a distant place for ministry and we have to take our son to his school. We are not using his school bus because to get the school bus he has to walk up to half a way to the school from our home.
Every day for every transportation/travel we have to depend on public transportation which we find it very difficult. We have to walk for some distance to find a public transportation.
We are praying for a motor bike.
If God can provide money for a motor bike it will be a great blessing.
Could you please pray with us?
If you are able to share our need to anyone or any prayer group please share this prayer need to them on behalf of us.
Thank you.
Appreciate your kind response.
With love
Pastor George
